North Devon Ring and Ride

North Devon Ring and Ride commenced operations in 1993 to meet transport needs of disabled and older people unable to use public transport in some areas of North Devon.

The scheme currently provides a door to door minibus service enabling hundreds of people, many living in isolated rural locations to shop and enjoy the facilities of Barnstaple town with the added benefit of volunteer shopping escorts when required, subject to volunteer availability, booking essential. Passengers are welcome to take a companion or escort of their own.

To many of our clients the Ring and Ride service is their only means of social contact but more importantly, it enables them to retain their independence at a time in their lives when a little extra help and support is a necessity and not a luxury.

The service has operated successfully over the past few years
with a fortnightly timetable. This has enabled us to be
demand responsive, with the minibus running to capacity
for most journeys, thus meeting the needs of clients.
