Go North Devon was founded in 1992 in response to a need to provide suitable transport and mobility services for those who are frail, have a mobility problem, a disability (physical or sensory) or who are isolated within the community and are unable to use public transport or do not have independent means of travel to access town centre facilities. The first services to be provided were 'Shopmobility' and 'Ring & Ride' .
We now also co-ordinate the 'Cancer Care Car service' on behalf of the North Devon Cancer Care Centre Trust (NDCCCT).
Our services enable clients to retain their independence whilst helping to prevent isolation and loneliness which may occur when there is no access to private or public transport. It helps those, who may be living on their own, to form new friendships, to enjoy social interaction and build confidence. Our Transport to Health service enables us to give transport advice to patients who need to travel to hospital to receive healthcare.
Go North Devon is a charitable organisation and relies on the willingness of volunteers and a range of grants and fundraising activities to maintain the provision of its services.
