Cancer Care Car Service Update
We would like to update you that during the current coronavirus outbreak the Cancer Care Car Service is still operating as normal. Our dedicated and committed drivers are working hard to get people to their essential cancer related appointments at NDDH and other hospitals in North Devon.
SHOPMOBILITY AND RING & RIDE SERVICES UPDATED 24/03/20
In order to protect our clients, staff and volunteers and to limit the spread of the Coronavirus outbreak, the Shopmobility Centre will be closed to the public from Tuesday 24th March and will remain closed for the foreseeable future. We will not be operating our Shopmobility and Ring & Ride services until further notice.
The Cancer Care Car Service will continue to operate as normal. Our telephone booking service is available and manned between 09.15am and 12.30pm. Please call 01598 763894 for your Cancer Care Car bookings and cancellations.
At Go North Devon your safety is our top priority.
Like many voluntary and community groups across the UK, we are closely monitoring the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak and following the advice provided by the NHS and UK Government.
We have also introduced a series of measures to protect our clients and colleagues, including:
- Reinforcing our comprehensive cleaning regime on our vehicles, wheelchairs and scooters and at the Shopmobility Centre.
- Increasing the frequency of cleaning, particularly of surfaces that are often touched, such as seat belts (tongue/buckle/webbing), door handles (inside and out), grab rails, scooters and wheelchairs (controls/handles/seat lever).
- Ensuring all toilet facilities are continually topped up with soap.
- Unfortunately, we have been unable to source hand sanitiser.
It is hard to keep up to date with the changing advice and news about coronavirus.
If you are concerned or have symptoms use the NHS 111 online service: https://111.nhs.uk/covid-19 coronavirus service that can tell you if you need medical help and advise you what to do.
Use this service if:
You think you might have coronavirus;
In the last 14 days you’ve been to a country or area with a high risk of coronavirus;
You’ve been in close contact with someone with coronavirus.
Do not go to a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital. Call 111 if you need to speak to someone.
Like the common cold, coronavirus infection usually occurs through close contact with a person with novel coronavirus via cough, sneezes or hand contact. A person can also catch the virus by touching contaminated surfaces if they do not wash their hands.

Save Our Seats - Minibus Appeal
Please help us to raise funds for a new wheelchair accessible Ring & Ride minibus. Our existing bus has been in service for 10 years and has become uneconomical to keep on the road.
A new minibus would mean that we can continue to provide an efficent and reliable door to door service for the local people who rely on it.
You can make a donation online on our Just Giving Page or come into the Shopmobility Centre and try your luck on our Minibus Raffle.
Every penny counts and you can help us to make a difference to the lives of local people by helping them to remain active, independent and mobile.
See our Minibus Appeal Page for more details.
